Welcome! Ontario First Church of the Nazarene has much to offer for youth, with exciting stuff happening all the time. This is a positive place for teens to connect with God, with each other, and with adults who genuinely love and invest in these young people. Here are some highlights:
Every Sunday morning at 9:30am, students in grades 7-12 meet together in the Expedition Room (#221) for an opening session before breaking into junior and senior high Sunday School classes to focus on the day's topic.
Worship is recognizing and responding to God. Youth are an important part of our congregation, and we love worshiping together. The teens often sit together, singing, learning and responding as a group.
During the school year, youth meet in the gym Wednesday nights at 6:45pm for, "The Edge," a high-energy, exciting and fun night with their friends. Students hang out, have a Coke, hear a relevant message, and participate in small-group discussions with other students their age. We invite parents to join us every other month for "Parent's Night" and see what goes on during The Edge on Wednesday nights. For those teens who want to learn even more about how Jesus is leading them, "Beyond the Edge" meets at 6:33am Wednesday mornings at Jolts and Juice's Upper Room for a time of study and discussion.
Teen quizzers dive into God's word, studying a selected book of the New Testament for an entire year and competing in monthly quiz competitions. This is an excellent way to learn scripture, develop friendships with others in the youth group, and even get to know students from other churches.
Special events are scheduled at various times throughout the year. At least once each month there is a fun activity -- Fifth Quarter, bowling, etc. -- particularly for students to bring friends. Our teens also enjoy events with youth from other churches in our District (eastern Oregon, southern Idaho, Nevada and Utah), including Main Event (a regional talent and sports competition at Northwest Nazarene University) and summer camps for junior high and senior high school students.
